DUAL
Dual is a sculpture where each polyhedron forms a grid for another, made by using a 3D-printing technique. It is the result of a study of the mathematical grid and in particular with regular polyhedra, and shows an octahedron (an octagon) in and around itself. The figures are each other's mathematical dual polyhedra.
Display
To display the sculpture, a self-designed base was created, containing laser-cut decoration. Here, yet another type of grid, inspired by the sculpture itself is cut out of the medium density fibre board (MDF).
By integrating an automatic turntable in the self-designed base, the sculpture rotates gently, turning it into a mesmerizing object.
