FLATLAND
Flatland is a novel that discusses different dimensions from the point of view of a square, written by Edwin Abbott (1884). The interior is made as light as possible by using the font Lato (designed by Łukasz Dziedzic in 2010) and by deviding of the text into two columns. Images are printed on transparent paper. The reader can thus view the 'back' of images and text, which are normally never visible. Flatland is a book with the format 185x230 mm.
To provide a connection to this topic, a cover has been designed that appears to be unreadable. When holding the book horizontal on eye level, the title Flatland gets visible.
Tryouts
Different covers were designed during the creative process of making this book. Patterns got compared in order to select the strongest illustration that could be an independent book cover. It only reveals the title, while being an eyecatcher that would definitely stand out in a book store, whether in real life or on a digital platform.
