HYPERNOVA
Hypernova is a video installation showing infographic- and motion design features.
Using an overarching story of a public transport company of the future, Hypernova talks about visionary architecture and high speed transportation through concept art illustrations, dynamic graphs and infomercial videos, creating a futuristic utopia.
An animated graph, based upon real data from Antwerp Central station. It shows 5 variables:
all stations reachable from the station, placed on a grid based upon distance, showing the different trajectories with their frequency and travel time, visualized by light beams.
Visualization of the installation: when applying a foil, a glass screen turns into a double sided video screen (while projecting).
Although the installation isn’t realized, all foils and materials got tested. The results showed that it was possible to create the installation.

Infomercial
After 5 minutes, the video of the graph is paused for an infomercial. After this clip, the graph continues where it left off. The infomercial discusses advantages of multilayered architecture and high speed transportation systems, contributing to an over-urbanized environment.
The video is made out of self made concept art and illustrations. A narrative voice is produced by the reading function of a computer. This voice was recorded and altered to increase the quality and give it a special effect. Sounds are downloaded from a database.

Master’s thesis
The Hypernova project is a result of academic research and my own artistic point of view. This proces was documented and designed into a thesis, showing texts and process illustrations. Read more about some details here:
