FAIRYTALES

Fairytales is a magazine that embodies a self created manifest against effacing negativity in modern society. It seems nobody likes to address negative points in their lives, almost turning it into a taboo.  Using the altering of original fairytales into the child friendly versions we know best, this phenomenon gets more exposed.

For the content of the magazine, thematic collages were made inspired by the original stories of Rapunzel (1812) and The Little Mermaid (1837). Photographic material to create the collages with was selfmade, as were the clothes worn by the models.

The vest was designed to create a sense of sadness and pain, which the prince in the original story experienced when he fell into a thorn bush. Inspired by the costume design of Into the Woods (2014), a sketch was realized. Later on the vest got sewed using a plastic coated fabric, enriched with plastic spike studs.
